The year of 1986 will never be forgotten by the Ukrainian nation as the safety test of a nuclear reactor resulted in a terrible tragedy. The radiation that went out was 100 times that of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Ukrainian nature was contaminated. Almost the half of total forest area was under radiation and nowadays this number has reduced to six percent of the whole forest area. The nation still experiences the consequences of the Chernobyl tragedy. Many people have died and especially those who helped to clean the Chernobyl area after the explosion. You have to know that but another thing you have to know is that contemporary Kiev is now a safe place to visit!
